Daily journal November 19, 2000, 3 inches of snow and Kenny Rogers Christmas show.

It is early for us to get a heavy snow but we have awakened to the snow for breakfast and it is coming down in big white flakes and continued so heavy until the ground was white and the trees were loaded with this still another great art of God who made all things so beautiful. The front pasted and suddenly the snow stopped. Someone gave us tickets to the Kenny Rogers Broadway Show here at the Bilo Center Arena. I have never seen a Kenny Rogers show before being not much for musicals. I went anyway, I have never been in the arena here and it 17,000 seats that were half full. The show began 30 minutes late where the Christmas show backdrop of snow was appropriate for this day and I must say, it was worth it all with a variety of music, performance and with Christian emphasis. Children performed in the show here and choirs sang. Then when the second half began the scene changed to, "The Toy Shop" and a very meaningful story of the battle to save a second hand toy store from being destroyed to make way for a fast-food hamburger joint by a Scrooge of a character who's only motive in life was to make money like so many today. Almost every toy in the shop had some meaning and was very special dating back to the Pilgrims. The toys would come to life and animals would roam the store like a Disney set. In some ways it was more for children than adults although very few children were there. Roger’s home is about 75 miles from here in Georgia and he often spoke of what his mother told him as the point in the show. I have learned to appreciate him quite a lot. I am told that Kenny Rogers has had hepatitis B, yet he performs very well and his hair is a black now and not so white. Maybe he is taking copper. I hesitate to recommend minerals because there are so many on the market I do not trust and have been known to poison People. The show had a happy ending and the toy store was spared demolition after the old greedy, money man had a heart attack and a needed conversion spiritually to a new heart. I was praying that this mighty arena would stand and not fall down while we were in it at least. Built at a cost of $65 million, someone made a lot of money and it is used mostly for rock concerts and sports. May the Lord spare us from worldly ways and save our souls for eternal life in Heaven where all tears will be washed away in that new day. Prepare us Oh Lord for the terrible times ahead with a will to win eternal life. I must say that Kenny Rogers applies himself fully to the profession and especially on stage. I never appreciated Elvis Presley while he lived even though I was born the same year, until I heard him sing in a review while flying on Singapore Airlines and I realized that he put his whole heart into it and the sounds I heard were so wonderful. If we do our job well and do our very best, then it will bless others and it will bless us as well in time. Our little dog Boo Boo is going blind with cataracts, yet the veterinarian ask $1,500 to take them off. All over veterinarians are charging about as much as medical doctors to work on animals. This is one problem with the dairy industry I observed my father had to pay big money to have the milk cows tested routinely, where would the money come from? certainly not from selling the milk. The dairy herds are disappearing into the meat stream because to be a dairy farmer is to be slave to the veterinarian industry. I have found that the veterinarian industry lets animals suffer with common infections as mange while treating them for hundreds of dollars when a can of spray will cure it. I say this is a crying shame and veterinarians should be put on the spot over this crime. Praise God.
